Working off the Wii

A few days after Christmas I found myself at Best Buy exchanging the boys big Christmas gift. A bum guitar in the oh-so-popular with kids...but not so much with parents...Rock Band.

"What do you mean you don't have any and the closest store that has them is San Francisco??"

"That's it" the cashier replies.

"Sorry boys...not driving all the way into the city for a loud...( I think I forgot to mention that in addition to the guitar in Rock Band it also has a set of drums and a microphone)...video game."

Big sad looks and drooopy eyes all get shot my way.

Just then an employee strolls by us with nothing more than a huge load of the ever elusive Wii. Huge gasps come from all around me.

"Mom!! Look...Wii's!!"

"Wow, yeah. Okay boys, let's get a refund and then we will have to check back to see when they get more of the Rock Band."

"We want a Wii" in unison. How do they do that I wonder?

Here we go, I think to myself.

"They are too much money."
"You don't need anymore video games."
"You don't need another game system."
"You can play it at your friends houses."
"They are too much money."

Hhhmmmm...what else can I come up with?

"Oh Mom, Please"
"PLEASE"
"Pleeeeeaaaaaasssssssssssseeeee"

"You don't have enough money. Let's see...you are short about a hundred dollars."

So here comes more pleading and "We Will Work It Off...PROMISE."

After much debate and dismay to my husband...I agree to it. But only under the conditions that they have to work it off and I get to choose what work has to be done.

Big smiles all around and the Wii comes home with us.

So here is the question of the day:

How many doll bodies do they have to stuff to work off $116.72?

In case you were wondering...the Wii sits on the kitchen counter, unopened, until I decide they have stuffed enough. Sometimes video games can be quite productive.

So you've joined The Bank of Mommy Club too!
Mine's 25 and she's still paying part of the college loan back.
The boys look so thrilled with their new stuffing jobs don't you think?

You're a wise woman Colleen! Such good looking stuffers too!

Happy 2008! May your year be filled with joy!

Also, VERY IMPORTANT! What you did to honor Brianna and Iva and her family last year is one of the kindest actions I have ever witnessed!

You are a living doll!

Oh my gosh I am cracking up. My stepson is always working off somthing. I usually make him babysit his 4 year old little brother. He really has to be hard up for gas money. We have moved passed the gaming system, to a car~~
Enjoyed your blog~
